HiPlayer, also listed as Hi IPTV Player in the App Store, is an M3U and M3U8 playlist player for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. The app does not require account registration and does not include built-in channels, media, or playlists. You choose the playlist, program guide, logo, and stream sources that the app loads.
Summary
- No developer account is required.
- No third-party ads are displayed.
- No cross-app or cross-website tracking is used.
- The developer does not sell personal data.
- The developer does not operate a playlist, streaming, analytics, or advertising server for HiPlayer.
- Saved app data is stored on your device and, when iCloud is available, in your private iCloud database through Apple CloudKit.
Information You Provide
You may choose to add or import:
- Playlist URLs.
- M3U or M3U8 playlist files.
- Optional EPG or XMLTV program guide URLs.
- Optional channel logo or image URLs.
- Playlist names, icons, favorites, playback preferences, and sorting settings.
- A PIN or passcode used locally to protect selected playlist data.
HiPlayer uses this information only to provide app functionality, such as loading playlists, showing channels, displaying program guide data, caching logos, remembering playback preferences, and protecting selected playlist data.
Information Stored on Your Device
HiPlayer may store the following app data on your device:
- Saved playlists and related metadata.
- Playlist URLs and downloaded playlist data.
- EPG/program guide data and channel logo cache data.
- App settings and playback preferences.
- Favorites, recent channels, and view counts used to organize your channel list.
- Basic playlist metadata such as playlist name, creation date, and icon.
If you enable PIN protection, the app encrypts supported protected playlist data before storing it. Some basic metadata, such as the playlist name and creation date, may remain visible so the app can display and manage your saved playlists.
iCloud and CloudKit Sync
HiPlayer uses Apple CloudKit with the private iCloud container iCloud.com.ohmyapps.hiplayer to sync saved playlists and app data across your Apple devices when iCloud is available for your Apple ID.
CloudKit data is stored in your private iCloud database. The developer does not operate a separate sync server for HiPlayer. Apple may process and store iCloud data according to Apple’s iCloud and privacy terms.
If CloudKit is unavailable, HiPlayer falls back to local storage on the device.
Information Sent Off Device
HiPlayer sends network requests only as needed for app functionality:
- To fetch playlist files from URLs that you add.
- To fetch EPG/program guide files from URLs that you add or that are referenced by your playlists.
- To fetch channel logos or images from URLs referenced by your playlists.
- To play media streams from stream URLs contained in your playlists.
- To sync app data through Apple’s CloudKit service when iCloud is available.
When HiPlayer connects to a playlist, guide, logo, or stream source, that source’s server may receive normal network information such as your IP address, device network request headers, and the requested URL. Those sources are chosen by you or referenced by playlists you add, and they are not controlled by the developer.
Diagnostics
HiPlayer does not include a third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK. Apple may provide crash logs or diagnostic reports to developers if you choose to share diagnostics with Apple or if Apple makes App Store diagnostic information available through developer tools. Any such diagnostic information is used only to identify and fix technical problems.
Advertising and Tracking
HiPlayer does not:
- Display third-party advertising.
- Use third-party advertising SDKs.
- Track you across apps or websites.
- Sell your personal data.
- Share app data with data brokers.
Third-Party Services and Code
HiPlayer uses Apple platform services such as iCloud, CloudKit, App Store distribution, and media playback frameworks. It also includes open-source components for app functionality. These components are used inside the app and are not used by the developer for advertising or tracking.
Playback may use SGPlayer or AVPlayer. These playback engines may request media data from the stream URLs in playlists that you add.
Your Choices
You can:
- Choose whether to add playlist URLs, EPG URLs, logo URLs, or playlist files.
- Delete saved playlists from the app.
- Disable or stop using iCloud sync by changing your Apple ID or iCloud settings.
- Delete the app to remove local app data from a device.
- Manage iCloud app data through Apple’s iCloud settings where available.
Because HiPlayer does not require a developer account, the developer does not maintain an account profile that can be separately deleted.
Children
HiPlayer is a general-purpose media player and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Content Responsibility
HiPlayer does not provide, host, sell, or include any channels, media, or playlists. The app only plays content that you add or import. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights and permissions required to access any content you load or play with the app.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated if HiPlayer’s data practices change. The updated policy will be posted with a new “Last updated” date.
