These Terms of Use govern your use of OhMyStar (“OhMyStar”, “the app”), provided by NEURAL CRAFT LIMITED (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By downloading, installing, purchasing through, or using OhMyStar, you agree to these Terms.
These product-specific Terms supplement the general OhMyApps Terms of Service, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement, the Apple Media Services terms that apply to your region, and any mandatory consumer rights. They are not a Custom EULA. If these Terms conflict with Apple’s Standard EULA on the App Store license, maintenance and support, warranties, product claims, or liability, Apple’s Standard EULA controls. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Release and Feature Scope
The Mac App Store may distribute different OhMyStar versions for different macOS versions or during a staged release. As of the date above, version 2.2.8 is the current public release. The redesigned 3.0.0 codebase shown on the product page targets macOS 26 and is still completing release preparation.
Features, permissions, system requirements, pricing, and data practices can differ between builds. The App Store listing, in-app purchase screen, and release notes form part of the applicable product information. The OhMyStar Privacy Policy on this site describes the Version 3 codebase; the current App Store disclosure remains the store privacy statement for public version 2.2.8 and may differ.
What OhMyStar Does
OhMyStar is a developer tool for working with GitHub starred repositories. Depending on your version, it may let you:
- load and browse starred public-repository metadata;
- organize repositories with custom tags and language filters;
- search and sort the local library;
- read repository details and README content;
- star or unstar repositories through GitHub;
- view public Trending results;
- import organization data from supported backup formats;
- export tag-to-repository organization as JSON; and
- use optional Pro features such as manual private iCloud tag transfer and standalone README reading.
OhMyStar does not provide source-code hosting, guarantee repository quality, replace GitHub, or create ownership rights in third-party repositories or content.
App Store License
Your license to download and use OhMyStar is provided under Apple’s Standard EULA and applicable Usage Rules. Family Sharing, volume-purchase access, device eligibility, maintenance and support, warranty obligations, product claims, termination of the licensed rights, and app-related liability are governed by that EULA and any mandatory law.
These Terms add product-specific rules for your GitHub authorization, organization data, optional Pro features, Cloud Data actions, Trending, legacy imports, third-party repository content, and support interactions. They do not replace Apple’s license terms.
GitHub Account and Authorization
Core Version 3 features require a GitHub account and GitHub authorization. The app requests GitHub’s public_repo OAuth scope and uses the approved token for account, starred-repository, README, search, and star or unstar operations.
You are responsible for:
- reviewing the permission request before approving it;
- keeping your Mac account and GitHub account secure;
- using GitHub and its APIs in accordance with the GitHub Terms of Service and applicable policies;
- reviewing and revoking app access when you no longer want OhMyStar connected; and
- not using the app to access, manipulate, or distribute content unlawfully.
Signing out of OhMyStar clears the saved local OAuth token but does not revoke the authorization at GitHub and does not erase the local repository library. You can manage authorizations from your GitHub settings.
OhMyStar is independently developed and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by GitHub, Inc. GitHub and related marks belong to GitHub, Inc.
Your Organization Data and Backups
You keep your rights in tag names, backup files, and other original content you create. Public repository metadata and README content remain subject to the rights and licenses of their respective owners.
OhMyStar stores working data locally. You are responsible for maintaining your Mac, protecting your user account, and keeping appropriate backups. Signing out does not delete the local library, and cache clearing does not remove the main library.
An OhMyStar JSON export contains the GitHub numeric user ID, tag names, and repository identifiers. Exported files may not be encrypted. You are responsible for the destination, access permissions, copies, sharing, retention, and deletion of any exported file.
Imports merge supported organization data into the current library. Review the source and keep a backup before importing. We do not guarantee that every third-party or older backup will be valid, complete, safe, compatible, or recoverable.
The standard Version 3 interface hides OhMyStar’s former sharing feature, but a registered legacy ohmystar://import link can still offer to retrieve a shared repository list from the old ohmystarapp.com service. If you confirm that prompt, the app can star the listed repositories through your GitHub account, refresh your library, and optionally add the shared tag. Treat legacy links as untrusted until you review their source and contents; cancel any import you did not intentionally open.
Optional Pro Subscriptions and Purchases
OhMyStar may offer optional monthly and yearly auto-renewable Pro subscriptions through the Mac App Store. The app may also recognize an eligible legacy OhMyStar upgrade under the rules shown in the relevant build.
- The App Store shows the price, currency, billing period, and any offer before you confirm.
- A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it through your Apple Account settings before renewal under Apple’s applicable rules.
- Apple charges the payment method associated with your Apple Account and handles billing, taxes, renewal, cancellation, refunds, and purchase history.
- You can use Restore Purchases to ask Apple to restore an eligible current entitlement.
- Deleting OhMyStar, signing out of GitHub, clearing caches, or deleting Cloud Data does not cancel a subscription.
- We do not promise a free trial, fixed global price, permanent discount, or specific future feature unless the App Store purchase screen expressly states it.
The current Version 3 interface presents manual private iCloud data transfer, standalone distraction-free README reading, and future Pro features as Pro benefits. We may add, change, or remove features, subject to applicable law and the purchase terms shown to you. A subscription does not guarantee that every GitHub, Apple, Cloudflare, or remote service will always remain available.
Private iCloud Cloud Data
Cloud Data is an optional, manual Pro feature. It is not continuous background sync. The app may let you download, merge, replace, or delete tag organization in the private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account.
You are responsible for choosing the correct action and GitHub account:
- Download and Merge can add tag relationships to the current local library.
- Replace changes the cloud snapshot to match the current Mac’s local organization and can remove stale cloud records.
- Delete Cloud Data removes matching OhMyStar tag records from iCloud but does not delete local Mac data, GitHub data, exported backups, or App Store purchases.
Cloud operations can fail, be delayed, or be partially completed because of account changes, network conditions, service limits, concurrent edits, or provider errors. Keep a portable backup before a material replace or delete operation, confirm the active GitHub and Apple accounts, and review the result after the operation completes.
Trending, README Content, and External Services
OhMyStar depends on services and content we do not fully control, including GitHub OAuth and APIs, Apple StoreKit and CloudKit, a Cloudflare-hosted Trending endpoint, public GitHub pages, repository owners, remote README resource hosts, macOS, and your default browser.
Trending results, search fallback, star counts, repository statistics, languages, dates, links, descriptions, README rendering, and other third-party information can be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, inaccurate, changed, malicious, or removed. A repository’s appearance in OhMyStar is not an endorsement.
README files and external links can contain third-party text, code, images, media, downloads, or websites. You access and use that content at your own risk and under the owner’s terms and licenses. Do not run code, commands, installers, or downloads without independently reviewing them.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use OhMyStar to:
- violate law, GitHub rules, Apple rules, intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other third-party rights;
- obtain unauthorized access to an account, repository, device, network, or service;
- distribute malware, deceptive content, abusive traffic, or harmful instructions;
- manipulate purchases, entitlements, OAuth flows, API limits, Trending caches, or diagnostics;
- harass, impersonate, defraud, or harm another person; or
- interfere with the security, integrity, availability, or operation of the app or a connected service.
Intellectual Property
OhMyStar’s original app code, design, name, icon, text, graphics, and other materials are owned by NEURAL CRAFT LIMITED or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Open-source components remain subject to their own license terms and notices.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of OhMyStar, GitHub content, repository content, Apple services, Cloudflare services, or third-party materials to you.
Privacy
The OhMyStar Privacy Policy explains GitHub authorization, local storage, imports and exports, private CloudKit records, Trending requests, StoreKit, remote README resources, diagnostics, retention, and user controls.
Do not send OAuth tokens, passwords, payment-card information, private repository content, or other secrets through support messages or diagnostic files.
Availability, Updates, and Compatibility
We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue OhMyStar or a feature at any time. A build may require a particular Mac, macOS version, Apple Account state, GitHub account, network connection, purchase entitlement, permission, or provider service.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, support for every repository or README, compatibility with every backup, perpetual compatibility with GitHub or Apple APIs, continued availability of Trending, or availability in every country or language.
Repository and Service Limitations
Repository information, code, README content, popularity signals, and Trending results are provided for general developer convenience. Independently review a repository, its source, dependencies, security, maintenance, license, and suitability before using it.
The warranty, maintenance and support, product-claim, and liability rules for the licensed app are those in Apple’s Standard EULA and applicable mandatory law. GitHub, Apple, Cloudflare, repository owners, remote content hosts, and other third parties remain responsible under their own terms for services and content they control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, guarantees, remedies, or other consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Suspension and Termination
You may stop using OhMyStar at any time and cancel any subscription through Apple. Termination of the App Store license is governed by Apple’s Standard EULA. We may restrict access to support or an OhMyStar-operated service if you materially violate these Terms, create security or legal risk, misuse a connected service, or if we discontinue that service.
Termination does not automatically delete local files, exported backups, CloudKit records, GitHub authorization, GitHub data, or Apple purchase history. Use the relevant app and provider controls for each category.
Governing Law
The governing-law and forum rules for the licensed app are set by Apple’s Standard EULA and applicable mandatory law. The general OhMyApps Terms govern use of this website and its support channels to the extent they apply.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms when OhMyStar, purchases, permissions, provider services, law, or operational requirements change. We will update the “Last updated” date and provide additional notice where required. Your continued use after an effective update means you accept the updated Terms, except where law requires another form of consent.
